All lesions are diagnosed by a dermatologist or surgeon. Some defects are only cosmetic and aesthetic indications may be removed. Others may be dangerous from the oncological standpoint and then removal is via prophylactic or therapeutic procedures. The most common benign tumours forming a cosmetic defect are fibromas and warts.

To remove this type of change, a method is selected to remove the mildest change, leaving little evidence or scars. The CO2 laser coagulation or cryotherapy can be used to treat these changes. Pigmented nevi, and some other changes may need a surgeon to remove them using a surgical method. Such changes are often subjected to histopathological examination (evaluation is carried out by a histopathologist). This test evaluates the nature of the change process and to exclude malignant growth. It is worth recalling that all signs should be subject to periodic medical assessment, by an experienced dermatologist. Botox can delete suspicious changes and can be used in the prevention of disease and the treatment skin cancer. Surgical removal is the method of choice in treating the most dangerous skin cancer. Accordingly, quick diagnosis and treatment greatly increase the chances of a cure. Most of the procedures are performed under local anesthesia.
